Project Overview

A customer came to Thompson Repairs with a problem: their facility needed a roll-off dumpster that could take a beating day after day.

This was not a container for light cleanup work. It needed to handle steel scrap, debris, concrete, and other heavy industrial materials without wearing down too quickly, bending out of shape, or failing under repeated use.

The Thompson Repairs team built a custom 20-yard roll-off dumpster designed specifically for that kind of workload. It had to be stronger than a typical light-duty container, yet remain practical. The finished dumpster still needed to work with standard roll-off trucks and container systems, so the customer could put it into daily operation without changing the way their existing process worked.

The Challenge

Industrial waste containers endure a lot, especially when used every day. Between heavy loads, repeated impacts, scraping, and rough material handling, weak spots can develop quickly.

For this customer, a standard light-duty container would not be enough. They needed a 20-yard roll-off dumpster that could handle steel scrap, concrete, debris, and other industrial waste without wearing down too soon or losing its shape under pressure.

The dumpster also had to stay compatible with standard roll-off trucks and container systems, so the customer could use it within their existing operation.

The challenge was clear: build a stronger, longer-lasting container and reinforce the areas that would take the most abuse.

Services Provided

This project brought together several of Thompson Repairs’ core fabrication services. The team handled the steel layout, structural welding, plate assembly, reinforced floor and sidewall work, roll-off rail fabrication, fit-up, surface preparation, and finishing needed to deliver a durable, work-ready container.

Timeline

The project was completed in approximately 1–2 weeks, from material preparation through final fabrication.

That timeline allowed the customer to get a custom-built, heavy-duty container without an extended delay, helping them keep their waste and scrap handling process moving.

The Result

The finished 20-yard roll-off dumpster gave the customer exactly what they needed: a stronger, more durable container built for heavy daily use.

The customer was very satisfied with the finished build and noted that the overall quality and reinforcement work exceeded expectations. Since completion, the dumpster has performed well in daily operation and has held up under consistent loading of heavy scrap material, debris, and concrete.

For Thompson Repairs, this project is a clear example of what custom fabrication is meant to do: solve a specific operational problem with a practical, durable, work-ready solution.
